Overview
A Logical Data Model (LDM) allows you to describe the data structures (data files, items, ...) used in a WinDev, WebDev or WinDev Mobile application.

Notes:

  • The "LDM" and "Analysis" terms are indifferently used to define the structure of the database associated with a project.
  • See Handling a LDM for more details.
Note: From version 19, HFSQL is the new name of HyperFileSQL.

Creating a LDM
To create a LDM:
  1. Select "File .. New .. Data .. Analysis (LDM)". The wizard for analysis creation starts.Clickamong the quick access buttons.
    • In the wheel that is displayed, hover "Data" and select "Analysis (LDM)".The window for creating a new element is displayed: click "Data" then "Analysis".
    • The wizard for analysis creation starts.
  2. In the wizard, specify:
    • the name and directory of the analysis. The analysis corresponds to a ".WDA" file. By default, this file will be created in the directory of the project analysis (<Project name>.ANA directory). This directory must be accessible in read/write.
    • whether the analysis must be associated with the current project instead of the current analysis (when creating an analysis in a project already associated with an analysis).
    • the analysis description that briefly describes the subject of the analysis.whether the analysis must be password protected. This password will be requested when opening the analysis (with the tools of WinDev, WinDev Mobile or WebDev or by programming).
    • the types of databases handled by the project: HyperFileSQL Classic, Oracle, HyperFileSQL Client/Server, ...the types of databases handled by the project: HFSQL Classic, Oracle, HFSQL Client/Server, ...
      • If the analysis must handle an external database, the corresponding native access must be installed on the computer.
      • The wizard is used to define the connection to the external database (name, caption) and to enter the advanced parameters (server, user and password). This information can be specified later in the data model editor.
  3. Validate. The created analysis becomes the current analysis.
  4. Create all the elements (data files, items and links) of your analysis.
Note: See Data files of the analysis, Items of a data file and Links of the analysis for more details.
  5. To use the analysis in your project, generate the analysis ("Analysis .. Generation"). See Generating an analysis for more details. To use the analysis in your project, generate the analysis: on the "数据模型" pane, in the "数据模型" group, expand "Generation" and select "Generation". See Generating an analysis for more details.
